***image1***Staff Sgt. Bernard M. Lazare is the NCOIC of the 435th Communications Squadron Executive Support Cell. He provides high level/profile conference support and around-the-clock communication support for resident and transient distinguished visitors.

He said he enjoys, “the opportunity to meet base leadership across Ramstein, as well as interact closely with multiple organizations throughout USAFE.”
Why did you join the military? I joined for the educational benefits and an oppportunity to see the world.

Hometown: El Segundo, Calif.

Family: Spouse, Hrefna L. Lazare; father, Bernard F. Lazare (Retired Senior Master Sgt. USAF); mother, Kathleen C. Spann; sister, Vanessa M. Lazare; brother, Evan J. Phelps.

No. 1 goal in the next five years: To get my BS in computer science
Hobbies: Travel, PC building, mountain biking and fitness. “I am working on learning two languages. I got started with Icelandic when I was stationed there in 2000 and continued to pursue it after I got married to my wife. I’m studying German because of the location. I started to study languages primarily because I enjoyed communicating with my friends and family in their native language and it gives me a greater insight to their culture.”
