Two area Majors Little League Teams are in Vilseck, Germany, this weekend playing in the District 1 Tournament championship.
The teams represent Ramstein and the KMC.

The tournament started Thursday and runs through Sunday. Other teams participating in the tournament include Vilseck, Eifel, Stuttgart and Bamberg.
Members of the Ramstein team include Joey Beach, Stephen Burns, Michael Fischer, Tyler Jarvis, Cyle Jay, Devin Johnson, Matthew Lynch, David Novak, Angelo Ortiz, Andre Porterfield, Travis Reinhart and Travis Stamper. The manager is Agustin Ortiz and coaches are Stephen Jarvis, Kent Jay and Chad Lynch.

“This year’s team is a very young team. Seven of the twelve players are 11-year-olds, but they are a very talented and motivated team. They have worked hard for the past month and are eager to face the competition,” said Ortiz.

Members of the KMC team include Clayton Campbell, Jacob Cramb, Dejon Golden, Colton Honeycutt, Nathan Huerta, Zachary Jefferson, Luke Matthews, Jordan Noffsinger, Daniel Padro, Xavier Rose and Joseph Southwick. The manager is John Matthews and coaches are Kevin Honeycutt and Christopher Campbell.

“For only being together for two and a half weeks, this team has made great strides. Both on and off the field, the players and parents have been motivated and a great bunch to work with. We’ll do fine at Vilseck,” said Matthews.

The winner of the Majors District 1 Tournament will return to Vilseck from Aug. 3 to 12 and play in the TransAtlantic Little League Tournament as the representative from Germany.

The winner of that tournament will then advance to play in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

Selections were also recently made for the KMC Juniors Baseball Tournament Team. They are playing this weekend in Stuttgart in the Juniors District 1 Tournament. Their only opponent in the tournament is from Stuttgart.
The winner of this tournament will travel to Kutno, Poland, to play in the Europe, Middle East and Africa Junior Little League Baseball Tournament from July 8 to 17.

Members of this team include Matt Belschner, Joey Bonish, Jake Groth, Robert Hernandez, Brock Hogan, Chris Johnson, Cody Johnston, Dreshawn Murray, Agustin Ortiz, Brandon Pilialoha, Andrew St. Pierre and Chris Talbert. The manager is Scott Groth and coaches are Matt St. Pierre, Scott Johnston and Mike Scott.

“Seven of the players were in Kutno, Poland, last year playing in regional tournaments. The entire team is looking forward to good competition in the district tournament and hopefully advancing for two weeks of baseball paradise in Kutno,” said Groth.
