Across the KMC, employees saw their shadows Feb. 1, when children celebrated Job Shadow Day.

All Department of Defense school-age children were invited to attend various events throughout KMC installations from tours at Armed Forces Network to the 435th Civil Engineer Squadron’s fire station.

Job Shadowing is a national initiative that provides young people with an up-close look at how skills learned in the classroom are put to use in the workplace.

Erin Wallace, Ramstein Elementary School second grade student and daughter of Senior Master Sgt. Thomas Wallace, 86th Airlift Wing Inspections and Readiness, said the thing she enjoyed most about Job Shadow Day was going on airplanes.

This is the second year that the 431st Air Base Group hosted events at Vogelweh and it also sponsored a similar event at Sembach. Also on hand to show equipment and vehicles were the 431st Civil Engineer Squadron, 435th CES Explosive Ordnance Disposal flight and the KMC Fire and Emergency Services.
