Landstuhl sponsors city fest today to Sunday

Landstuhl will celebrate its 28th annual city fest today through Sunday. The traditional event, sponsored by the sales promotion association of the city of Landstuhl, will feature a musical program, car show, children’s activities, food specialties and Sunday shopping.

About 20 bands and two dance formations will perform on three stages in front of the VR Bank on Alter Markt and on the corner of Kaiserstrasse and Ludwigstrasse.

The official opening with tapping of the first keg of beer by City Mayor Ralf Hersina will take place at 6:30 p.m. today at the stage on Alten Markt. The U.S. Air Forces in Europe Band Wings of Dixie will provide the musical entertainment until 7:30 p.m., to be followed by the party band Happy House performing until 11:30 p.m. The bands 7ty Proof and Katana perform on the other two stages.

Saturday, bands including Black Betty, The Watching and Fused start playing at 2 p.m.

Sunday activities will begin at 11 a.m. with an early morning beer get-together and entertainment by the brass band Kolpingkapelle Kindsbach. Bands playing throughout the day include Funhouse plays PINK, the Jim Everett Band, and Willy and the Poor Boys Creedence Clearwater Revival Cover.

A dance group of the local youth club SPOTS will show a performance at 2 p.m. Saturday, and an Irish dance group will dance at 1:15 p.m. Sunday.

Ten local car dealers will present the latest models behind Stadthalle.

Hungry visitors can taste a wide range of food specialties from the region.

Stores will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Officials ask visitors to please buy the city fest wristband for €2 to help to finance the cultural event.
