Last minute deals can lead to fun in sun

***image2***Few things in life are more delightfully indulgent than a cold-weather getaway to a sun-drenched, tropical paradise. Though many people embrace the frosty air as they zip down a snow-covered slope on a pair of skis, there is something divine about feeling a warm breeze on your skin when it’s cold at home. Thanks to the Internet and low fare air carriers, a winter suntan may not be out of your reach.

Off-season travel can actually bring price breaks for sun-seekers, because peak season for warm-weather destinations is normally during July and August. There are many Web sites that offer discount airfare and hotel bookings, and a little research may yield fantastic deals for the savvy vacationer.

Travel agents can also be a great help in planning your winter escape, if you ask about last-minute deals. They can often find wonderful travel packages, which may include hotel bookings and roundtrip airfare for prices lower than you might imagine.

One local travel agency recently offered a last-minute trip to the Canary Islands – including roundtrip airfare, ground transportation and a weekend in an all-inclusive 4-star hotel – for €270 per person.

With its famous, unique terrain and daily temperatures reaching well into the 70s through the cold weather months, the southern coast of Gran Canaria is a destination worth considering.

Not everyone can take advantage of these great, last-minute travel deals, but it’s certainly worth a try if you’re feeling spontaneous and your schedule allows.

Making your escape from the winter weather doesn’t have to break the bank.
If you take your time and thoughtfully consider your options you may find a bargain. You may not find it immediately, but with a little patience you could soon feel the sun on your face and the warm sand between your toes.
