networks, and entertainment and advertising giants and came out a
winner.
Located on Kleber Kaserne, this theater-level visual information agency
took home silver and two bronze awards at the 26th Annual Telly Awards.

Comparable to the Emmy Awards for corporate video presentations, the
Telly Awards honor outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials
and programs, and video and film productions.  Silver awards are
the highest recognition given by the Telly Awards, which is a national
and international competition based in Cincinnati. The competition is
widely known and highly respected among industry professionals, and
receives more than 12,500 entries each year from 50 states and many
foreign countries, said Robert Kramer, VISE director.

“For us, it’s all about supporting the Soldiers,” he said. “And, this
great team – admin, supply, engineering and production specialists –
deserves this recognition for doing just that.”

The silver was for the total multimedia package consisting of the 5th
Signal Command video and Dragon Warriors brochure, showing the mission
and
impact this command has on U.S. Army Europe.

“It (5th Signal Command) provides your communications period for
USAREUR and its subordinate commands,” said Tony Sweeney, the video’s
director and producer.

“It’s the backbone for getting your communications up … your
telephone, computer, internet, SIPR and NIPR (classified and
non-classified networks) during day-to-day operations, exercises and
downrange.

“Everyone loves, ‘Can you hear me now?” said Mr. Sweeney. “Well, this
command does it for real while people are shooting at them.”

One of the bronze awards was for the “Task Force Iron Chief,” a live
video and worldwide broadcast of President George Bush’s visit to the
1st Armored Division in Wiesbaden in February 2005. The other one was
for the VISE Command Video, showing USAREUR units the capabilities of
this theater-level visual information agency.

During the time of these productions, VISE was attached to the 2nd Signal Brigade, but as of March, it falls under USAREUR.

Other Telly Award winners include Public Broadcasting Service, ESPN,
Fox Sports, Harpo Productions, Inc., Microsoft Corporation, Miramax
Films, The History Channel, Time Warner Cable, The Weather Channel and
Discovery Kids.

The statuette for the Telly Awards is designed and made by the same company that makes the Academy Awards.
