The Atlantic Academy will hold a brown bag luncheon as part of their ongoing series of events on entrepreneurship noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at their event location, Lauterstrasse 2 in Kaiserslautern. The luncheon titled “Challenges and Opportunities of Starting a Business in Germany” is for those who are thinking about opening a business in Germany and need to be aware of potential entrepreneurial risks in an unfamiliar environment. An American business owner from Bavaria will share his insights and experiences on what it takes to set up and run a successful business on the German economy and will be ready to answer questions. Admission to this family friendly event is free. Feel free to bring your own lunch. This event is held in cooperation with the state initiative Welcome to Rheinland-Pfalz, the U.S. Consulate General Frankfurt, the American-German Business Club, and the Economic Development Agency Kaiserslautern.

The Ramstein North Chapel is accepting bids for the following contract position from July 14 to 28: Ramstein Catholic Faith Community Pastoral Coordinator. The contractor shall provide all personnel, labor, materials, and transportation to provide non-personal service in support of the Ramstein Chapel for the Ramstein Faith Community Pastoral Coordinator as located in the Kaiserslautern Military Community (KMC). The Coordinator is responsible for overall calendar development and programming, budget development and tracking, data management, publicity for all ministries and the Liturgies of the CFC. The Coordinator must have experience working with Catholic liturgical law and sacramental records and be able to express clearly the detail of basic Catholic doctrine and liturgical law. Documented evidence of the following is preferred but not required: a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or Information Management and two years of experience in management, OR five years’ experience in administration and personnel management. The contractor is subject to criminal history background checks and will accomplish the Ramstein Chapel Contractor in-processing checklist upon award of the contract. The Request for Proposal and bid package can be picked up from the North Chapel from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 14 to 28. Bids are due by 4 p.m. July 28. Little Shop of Horrors: Audition to be a part of the KMC OnStage production of Little Shop of Horrors. Auditions will be Aug. 21 & 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the KMC OnStage Theatre on Kleber Kaserne and are open to all. Those auditioning should be ready to sing a prepared song, learn a short dance piece, and do a cold reading for the director. This production tells the tale of meek flower shop assistant Seymour, who pines for his co-worker Audrey. During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood. The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store. After Seymour feeds Audrey’s boyfriend, Orin, to the plant after Orin’s accidental death, he must come up with more bodies for the increasingly bloodthirsty plant. Rocky Horror Picture Show: Calling all 18+ triple-threats! Auditions for the KMC OnStage production of the Rocky Horror Picture Show will be held August 28 at the Ramstein Community Center from 6-8 p.m. and August 29 at the KMC OnStage theatre on Kleber from 6 to 8 p.m. Those auditioning should be ready to sing a prepared song, learn a short dance piece, and do a cold reading for the director. This story centers on a young engaged couple whose car breaks down in the rain near a castle where they seek a telephone to call for help. The castle is occupied by strangers in elaborate costumes celebrating an annual convention. They discover the head of the house is Frank N. Furter, an apparent mad scientist who actually is an alien transvestite who creates a living muscle man in his laboratory. The couple is seduced separately by the mad scientist and eventually released by the servants who take control. BRS training: Service members from all branches of service and their spouses can attend Blended Retirement System training offered by the Airman and Family Readiness Center. It is highly recommended that attendees complete the online Opt-In Training prior to attending to have a better understanding of material being presented. Opt-In Training is located on Joint Knowledge Online website and ADLS, Blended Retirement System Opt-In, Course number ZZ133146, under Selected Force. BRS training will be held at the Hercules Theater on Ramstein the following times and dates: 1 to 3 p.m. July 19; and 10 a.m. to noon July 25. Sign-up is not required.
