Market highlights regional potatoes

Wallhalben will hold its potato market with presentations of
traditional craftsmanship, arts display and musical entertainment
Saturday and Sunday.
The event will open with fanfare sounds and flag throwing 1:30 p.m.
Saturday. Election and crowning of the Duchess of Sickingen County is
scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

More than 22 stands will serve potato dishes. Specialties include
potato pancakes, fried potatoes, dumplings, marjoram potatoes with
grilled ham and other dishes based on grandma’s recipe.

Farming culture and local craftsmanship from former times will be
presented by basket and brush makers, carpenters and farmers using old
tools such as flails and scythe.

Sunday activities will continue at 10:30 a.m. with a variety of musical
performances. An arts display will showcase paintings of Sickinger Höhe
and the Romantic Mill Valley.  Wallhalben is southwest of
Landstuhl.
