Military Matters

First sergeants’ corner

Since it is getting colder outside, wearing blues on Mondays leaves you with a few options to stay warm.

While wearing the cardigan sweater, pullover sweater or blue jacket, you must ensure you are wearing the insignia appropriately for your rank. On the cardigan and pullover sweaters, officers and senior NCOs will wear shoulder mark rank insignia.

All other enlisted members will wear metal rank insignia 5/8 inch from the edge and centered. Center the metal rank horizontally on the epaulet, with the bottom of the insignia one inch from the shoulder seam.

On the lightweight blue jacket, officers will center regular size (one-inch) metal rank insignia 5/8-inch from the end of the epaulet.  Enlisted personnel wear three-and-a-half-inch or four-inch (women) and four-inch (men) sleeve chevron on sleeves or metal rank insignia on collar. Wear metal rank insignia centered one inch up from bottom collar and parallel to the outer edge.
