***image1***Four times in summer, inline-skaters can enjoy car-free routes in Kaiserslautern. The city starts its skate night season 8:30 to 10 p.m. Tuesday. Meeting location and starting point is always on the Alte Theaterplatz (parking lot next to Karstadt department store).

The Kaiserslautern skating association co-organizes the event.The event begins with
entertainment at 7 p.m. on the Alte Theaterplatz. Those who don’t feel safe enough on their skates can take part in a training session with the local skating association at 7 p.m. Certified instructors will show special techniques.

Warm-up starts at 8 p.m. The warm-up route goes from the parking lot around Fruchthalle.  The 15-kilometer east route goes to Königstrasse, Zollamtstrasse, Enterweilerstrasse, Kleber Kaserne, then on Donnersberger Strasse to Hertelsbrunnenring, down to Mainzer Strasse and back to the starting point. A music vehicle will accompany the inline-skaters.

The route stays car-free until 10 p.m.At 8 p.m., children can take part in a kids’ race.  The second skate night is scheduled for June 24. The route will lead to the west: Hohenecken and then on Pariser Strasse and Königstrasse, back to the starting location.

The east route is available a second time July 8, and the west route can be driven on the last skate night July 22.
