This year, Otterbach will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its annual Halloween fest Monday at the village square. Since Germans observe 500 years of Protestant reformation on Oct. 31, organizers decided to celebrate Halloween a day earlier.

Youth offices of the Otterbach-Otterberg union community will sponsor the fest under the motto, “Pirates and the Water World.”

Visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of activities and games, which are scheduled to start at 5 p.m. in the center of the village.

First of all, there will be a costume contest for children and adults. Winners will get awarded. Visitors can also take part in a pumpkin contest and receive prizes for their creations.

A campfire will be set up, and stands will be available to serve food and drink specialties. Disc jockey Wolfgang will provide musical entertainment in the children’s disco party tent. The acoustic band 7661 will perform live.

The highlight of this Halloween event will be a scary lights hike starting at
7 p.m. Participating hikers can enjoy a creepy play with elaborate light and sound installations. Organizers emphasize that this is an artsy play for young and old guests. There won’t be any monsters, witches and ghosts touching or following the hikers.

Proceeds will go to local youth projects.
