Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association Kaiserslautern Chapter 158 hosts the Ramstein Summer Technology Exposition from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 21 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 22 at the Ramstein Officers’ Club.

U.S. Air Forces in Europe/A6 sponsors the expo, which is free to all military, civilian and contractor personnel.

“Although the expo is geared towards the communication and intel communities, just about everyone can take something away from this event. After all, everyone uses comm every day,” said Master Sgt. Steve Bair, chair for the Publicity Committee of the Kaiserslautern AFCEA Chapter I.

More than 70 exhibitors will demonstrate the latest in biometrics, cyber security, Internet software platforms, optical equipment, information assurance, encryption, digital signage, ruggedized equipment, distance learning, wireless and mobile communication, force protection, deployable power supplies, multimedia and more.
“NCSI is proud to have produced this annual event for Ramstein Air Base for more than 12 years,” said Lacey Livingston, event manager for National Conference Services, Inc. “The technology expo is valuable for the KMC because it allows personnel to view the latest innovative technologies that they might not otherwise have been able to see demonstrated live.”

Industry will also present informative seminars during the expo.
“Industry is constantly improving technology to support the warfighter and these events enable the military to be informed and up to date on the newest advancements.  We produce these events at installations all over the U.S., but being able to provide this service for those who are stationed overseas is even more significant,” Ms. Livingston said.

As the NCOIC of Combat Development, Sergeant Bair’s job is to stay on top of the ever changing world of tactical communications and provide his commander with the  best course of action for future development of deployable communication  packages.

“I have found that events like this one have always been the best place for finding new ideas and technology and for making contacts with the  vendors that provide the cutting edge of new equipment,” Sergeant Bair said.

Retired Lt. Gen. Dubia and Col. James Foley, 86th Air and Space Communications Group commander, will open the exhibit floor with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m. July 21. A breakfast buffet preceding the opening is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. It is free for AFCEA members and new applicants.

AFCEA also hosts a golf tournament July 23 at the Ram-stein Woodlawn Golf Course.
Shotgun start is 8 a.m.; showtime is 7:30 a.m. The fee is $45 per participant. Extras (three mulligans, three foot string, one throw) cost $5 each or $10 for all three.

The golf package includes a golf cart and a small golf gift bag. Prizes will be awarded for the longest drive and closest to the pin.
