Ramstein Youth Programs tops with boys and girls

***image3***The Ramstein Torch Club, a leadership club for youth between the ages of 9 and 12, was awarded the President’s Award for Service for community service projects. The Boys and Girls Clubs of America recently hosted its annual European Youth Development Conference in Weinheim where the best programs and professionals were recognized.

More than 100 military youth development professionals attended from all over Europe for a week of intensive training in areas including executive management and youth development professionals. 

The Ramstein Torch Club projects included the successful deployment jar program, where families with deployed loved ones count down the days of their active-duty members return home with tasty snacks.

Jennifer Hodges, a recreation assistant at the Ramstein Youth Center, was the 2007 Boys and Girls Clubs of America  European Youth Development Professional of the Year.  Ms. Hodges was described as embodying the BGCA motto, “reaching every child, no matter what it takes.”  She  was recognized by her peers through the various fitness, sports and health initiative that she develops and implements in the KMC, all of which reach more than 3,000 youth in the community.
