Teen Dating Violence Awareness

In acknowledgement of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, Army Community Service Family Advocacy Program will host a number of special activities for teens during February:

• 6 p.m. today: Teen Movie Night Exchange Reel Time Theater on Ramstein in the Kaiserslautern Military Community Center, Bldg. 3336

• 6 to 8 p.m Saturday: Teen Cosmic Bowling Night at Strikers Bowling Center on Smith Barracks, Bldg. 8105

Dr. Seuss celebration

A Dr. Seuss celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 5 at Landstuhl Youth Center, Bldg. 93812. Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, Army Europe Libraries, and Child, Youth and School Services join together to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss, who is considered to be one of America’s greatest authors. The event will feature guest readers, games, hands-on activities, story time, a puppet show, a meet and greet with several Seussian characters and more. Members of the community are invited to bring the entire family. Registration is not required for this free event. Teen Tech Week

Visit Rheinland-Pfalz Library March 7 to 12 for Teen Tech Week. To celebrate the theme, “Create it at Your Library,” the activities will focus on robotics. Spring theater classes

Do you have a child interested in getting involved with theater? KMC Onstage offers home-school theater classes for youth ages 5 to 18 years old. Home-school theater classes include: Pantomime, Pratfalls and Play, open to ages 5 to 8 years old; and Shakespeare and Kids, open to ages 8 to 18 years old. Each class will run from Apr. 18 to June 6, with a registration deadline of Mar. 18. New liaison officers

The Air Force School Liaison Office for the KMC has two new school liaison officers. They serve as the communication link between the community, schools, parents and military for education related programs, concerns and initiatives for juvenile dependents. They also help assist with permanent change of station transitions, issues impacting military child education, promoting collaboration and strategic partnerships within the community, administering the free and reduced lunch program, and providing parents with education related tools and resources. Tots and Tales Storytime

Tots and Tales Storytime at Rheinland-Pfalz Library in Landstuhl is an entertaining event with flannel board fun, fingerplays, songs, activities and nursery rhymes. It promotes educational development and reading readiness in young children, ages 12 to 24 months. Tots and Tales storytime is held at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday. Sign up in advance. JoyRead™ classes

Ignite a love of reading. JoyRead™ is a unique program that sparks a lifelong passion for reading and gives your young child a jumpstart in life. The research-based curriculum consists of letters, sounds and words that provide fun and easy ways for parents to get their kids ready to read. Join founder Jennifer Robinson for an exciting and meaningful experience. Each class runs once weekly for eight weeks. Open to children ages 0 to 4 and their caregivers. TAG meeting

Calling all teens! The Teen Advisory Group meeting is an opportunity for teens to make their voices heard about what programs and materials they want to see offered at the library. Youth guitar lessons

SKIESUnlimited now offers guitar lessons for youth ages 9 to 18 years old. Lessons are available by appointment at beginner and advanced levels. Computer-assisted piano class

SKIESUnlimited is offering a computer-assisted piano class to help students learn how to play piano. Students receive both a 30-minute individual lesson and a 30-minute interactive piano lesson at a workstation with a stand-alone computer. Students are asked to bring piano books and other teaching materials they may have from previous piano lessons. The class is offered Mondays and Thursdays on Pulaski Barracks, Bldg. 2901, and in Landstuhl, Bldg. 3819. Open to all branches of service for children ages 4 to 18 years old. KMC Teen Shuttle

Child, Youth and School Services offer a KMC Teen Shuttle service. Pick-up and drop-off points are located throughout Vogelweh, Vogelweh Housing, Ramstein and Landstuhl. ID card, shuttle card and permissions slips are required to ride the shuttle. Lapsit Storytime

Join the Rheinland-Pfalz Library for Lapsit Storytime. This infant storytime is held at 10:30 a.m and 1 p.m. every Thursday. The event includes sensory crafts, songs, fingerplays and stories. Light refreshments are available for the parents. Because of limited space, sign-up is required for every storytime. A wait list is also available, in which parents are notified the Saturday prior if a space has become available. Clubs at Landstuhl School Age Center

Did you know that Landstuhl School Age Center has several different clubs open to students, grades one to five? The different weekly clubs include cooking, sewing, robotics and film. Registration with Child, Youth and School Services is required. Enrollment fees are based on total family income.
