Landstuhl’s culture and convention center, Stadthalle, started its season ticket sale for the new play season 2004/2005. During a recent press conference, officials announced the new program.
“We need to continue to be engaged in getting a good cultural program in Landstuhl,” said Mayor Klaus Grumer. “We cannot cut down expenses on culture, and we won’t.”
Mayor Grumer mentioned that Landstuhl is working together with the Landgraf Concert Agency that puts together the program. “Since 1996, Landgraf provides us a wonderful diversified program, that lures many visitors” said Mayor Grumer.
The new play season starts with the “Buddy Holly Story,” a musical by Alan Janes in German Oct. 13. “After being very successful in Hamburg, the musical goes on tour in Germany,” said Margit Schumann from the Landgraf Concert Agency.
“We had fewer visitors in play season 2002/2003 due to the war in Iraq. Our American audience didn’t show up as often,” said Mrs. Schumann.
An Irish tap dance show, “To Dance on the Moon III – Under the Dark Moon,” will be presented Nov. 6. A musical about the life of “Mahalia,” the queen of gospel, with traditional spirituals and gospel songs can be seen Nov. 24.
“In the pre-Christmas time, we want to offer some family entertainment,” said Mrs. Schumann. “The Flying Danish Superkids” perform an acrobatic and artistic show Dec. 4. The children performing received the Circus Oscar in Madrid for their show.
The State Puppet, Pantomime and Black Theater Bratislava presents “Nutcracker” as a puppet ballet Dec. 18. Life-sized puppets dance and perform to Peter Tschaikowsky’s music.
The winter sports revue operetta “Herzen im Schnee,” hearts in the snow, with German soloists, choir and dance ensemble is Feb. 22.
The chamber musical “Lola” presents the story about a Jewish girl April 6.
The play season ends with “Die Fledermaus,” an operetta by Johann Strauss May 11.
Performances take place at 8 p.m. Regular ticket prices are 15.50, 17.50 and 19.50 EUR. Children up to 14 years cost 6 EUR for the family performances of the “Nutcracker” and “The Flying Danish Superkids.”
The Stadthalle also offers a season ticket with the choice of four or six performances at reduced prices.
The ticket service office is located in the Stadthalle on Kaiser-strasse 39. Brochures in German and English are available.
