Swap meet offers minerals, fossils, guided tours

The former mining village of Imsbach at Donnersberg hill will be a mecca for friends of minerals and fossils. Under the motto “Informing Swapping Buying,” the 32nd swap meet will take place Saturday and Sunday at the Imsbach community hall.

Visitors can experience the diversified mineral world from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. They can admire treasures that are normally only found in the underground mines. More than 70 exhibitors will show off impressive finds from the region and minerals and fossils from all over the world.

Swap meet visitors buying the adventure ticket will be able to visit the two mines in Imsbach Weisse Grube and Grube Maria as well as the Palatinate Mining Museum. The mining express shuttle will transport visitors between the exhibition hall and the Weisse Grube mine.

Guided tours of the Palatinate Mining Museum will be offered at 2 p.m. on both days.

Sunday, a guided hike through the mining region of Imsbach will start at 11 a.m. The meeting point for all guided tours is the community hall.

Admission to the museum is free for swap meet visitors. Additionally, the 500th and 1,000th visitors will receive attractive prizes.
