Teens demonstrate what leaders are made of at national conference

At the recent Boys & Girls Club of America National Keystone Conference in Garden Grove, Calif., the Ramstein and Vogelweh Keystone Clubs had the honor of representing the KMC. More than 1,500 Keystone members and their advisors were present at the conference.

The focus was to enhance students’ leadership skills, develop an increased awareness and appreciation of diversity, teach the value of tolerance and promote the values of freedom, justice, democracy and opportunity for all.

Vogelweh teens included Christopher Hekkila, Curtis Singleton, Gabrielle Daniels, Jamilah Bailey and Shadonna Gordon. Ramstein teens included Caitlin Jones, Colleen
Kiplinger, Bobby Remis, Felicia Gonzalez, Jessica Reyes, Lana Codina, Matt Burns, Sophia Seawell, Tara Stone and Trenton Riddle.

Chaperones were Kimberly O’Brien, Alvin Coleman and Stan Cindrity.
Throughout the year, each Keystone club participates in various fundraisers in order to attend the conference. They also volunteer in the community.

If you see a teen wearing their Keystone Club shirt at their many fundraisers, they are not just teens, but our future leaders. Teens interested in joining Keystone should contact Vogelweh Teen Center at 489-6155 or Ramstein Teen Center at 480-3099.
