It’s a job that never ends. And for Team Ramstein Airmen, that nonstop duty extends in all directions.
From public affairs to security forces to maintenance, they are working around the clock, even during the holidays, to keep the mission moving.
On Thanksgiving, pilots were still flying, maintainers were still maintaining and security forces were still keeping the KMC safe.
Ramstein is one of the busiest bases in the Air Force, and it only stays that way
because of dedicated Airmen.
Not only do Airmen work to their greatest abilities on holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, but they also do it with great pride. It’s because of these Airmen that the United States has the greatest Air Force.
“No matter what, the mission has to go 24 hours a day and seven days a week,” said Tech. Sgt. Mauricio Defreitas, 86th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron technician. “That is why we wear the uniform and I am proud to serve.”
Tech. Sergeant Defreitas, one of the many Airmen on the flight line on Thanksgiving conducting an Aeromedical Evacuation mission coming from Andrews Air Force Base, Md., said he doens’t mind working on the holidays.
“It feels good to work on the holidays. I’m thankful that this pilot and aircraft get to go home on this day,” said Senior Airman Edward Thompson, marshall from the 721st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.
Throughout the holiday season, Ramstein Airmen will
continue to do what they do best – dedicate their time and lives to serve the nation with honor.
