FRÜHLINGSFEST (SPRING FESTIVAL)

JUNE 13 – 15, CITY CENTER, OTTERBERG

The Spring Festival in Otterberg is held every two years and opens on Saturday, June 13 at 7:00 p.m. on the square in front of the Abbey Church. The mayor and the Spring Queen inaugurate the festival with music from the Otterberg “Harmonie” association, followed by a well‑known regional live band from about 8:30 p.m. At 6:00 a.m. on Sunday cannon shots wake the town and signal a musical parade by the Harmonie club, and everyone is invited to join the march and the subsequent breakfast. The festival’s highlight is a historic parade at 1:00 p.m., featuring over 1,000 participants in period costumes, fanfare bands, Cistercian monks, Walloons, Huguenots, the town’s night watchman, and the Spring Queen in a decorated carriage. Kindergartens, elementary schools, local clubs, businesses, and themed floats add color to the procession. After the parade, participants and guests walk together to the forest festival site about 3 km outside town on the road to Höringen. Also see ABC in KMC

LAWN TRACTOR RACE IN SEMBACH

JUNE 12 – 14, COMMERCIAL AREA, SEMBACH

Lawn tractor racing is a kind of motorsports. Each summer the “Rasentrecker Neuhemsbach” club hosts a race weekend. The popular event starts with the tapping of the beer keg and shakedown testing at 6 p.m. on Friday. The rock and party band “CHAIRWALK” will entertain the visitors from 9 p.m. On Saturday practice and qualifying of different lawn tractor types start at 11 a.m. The spectacular races are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. Good mood is guaranteed by the party band “Magic” performing live from 9 p.m. On Sunday the entertainment program starts with performances of the Musikverein Sembach” from 10 a.m. The program on Sunday includes a vehicle exhibition and helicopter rides. Final races are held from 12 p.m. Food, beverages, cocktails, and sweets are available. Viewing the race spectacle is free of charge! LANGE NACHT DER KULTUR 2026  (LONG NIGHT OF CULTURE)

Coordinated by the city’s Department of Culture, the event fills the city center with over 30 venues and hundreds of artists, letting visitors create their own program. Highlights include the Lange‑Nacht‑Bus with Stefano Cattaneo and Carlos Abyazar, plus music, dance, visual art, performance and experimental works — e.g., the Fruchthalle foyer audiovisual and a 360° installation at 42kaiserslautern. MITTELALTERLICHES SPECTACULUM (MEDIEVAL FEST)

JUNE 13 – 14,  MOSCHELLANDSBURG, OBERMOSCHEL

Obermoschel celebrates its 25th Medieval Spectacle at Veldenz Castle, transforming the Landsberg into a lively medieval world. A short walk leads visitors to camps of Vikings, Slavs, knights, merchants, and pilgrims, all demonstrating ancient crafts like bow making, pearl turning, and bone carving. Guests can try archery or medieval games, while fighters train and even a roaming orc horde stirs up the market. At the castle, minstrels Spectaculatius and Tamburo Bant Skaldar, juggler Hubertus, and storyteller Chnutz vom Hopfen fill the courtyard with music and tales. Food and drink stands offer hearty meals, sweets, and refreshing beverages. Saturday features the annual archery tournament, an evening concert by Tamburo Bant Skaldar, and a fiery night show by Feuerplanet.

JUNE 19 – 22, RHINE PROMENADE/CITY CENTER, MAINZ

In 1968, the year of the 500th anniversary of Johannes Gutenberg’s death, Karl Delorme, launched the folk festival. Since then, the memory of the great inventor Johannes Gutenberg has been celebrated. Look forward to a grand celebration with a diverse program: Johannisnacht stretches along the banks of the Rhine from the Kaisertor to the Weintor and from Fischtorplatz via Liebfrauenplatz to Schillerplatz. In addition to carousels and other rides, there is an artists’ market along the banks of the Rhine. The market offers handmade products and a variety of creative ideas in the areas of jewelry, clothing, decoration and gifts. KAISERSLAUTERN CLASSICS 2026

JUNE 20, CITY CENTER/PEDESTRIAN ZONE, KAISERSLAUTERN

The “18th Kaiserslautern Classics” will take place on June 20, 2026. Vintage and classic cars of all kinds will be displayed for free in central squares in the city center of Kaiserslautern. Visitors will be enchanted by the presentation of the vintage cars. With the vehicle presentation, the participants create an extraordinary shopping atmosphere with a very special flair. As a special highlight, SUK is holding the 4th ADAC Trifels Classic Car Rally. This is combined with special tests over a total length of approximately 240 kilometers through the Vorderpfalz and Westpfalz regions. Another highlight is the 4th Vespa Meeting in Kaiserslautern. Numerous enthusiasts of the legendary motor scooter meet and ride together into the city center, where they then present their two-wheelers as part of the “Kaiserslautern Classics.”

JUNE 19 – 22, TOWN CENTER, WINNWEILER

The annual Johannismarkt will take place in the town center of Winnweiler with food and drink, rides, live music and fun for all. Shops will be open on Sunday. Get into the swing and enjoy a typical town festival.

OPEL KAISERSLAUTERN ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

JUNE 20, 10 A.M. – 4 P.M., OPEL PLANT, KAISERSLAUTERN

Join Opel in celebrating 60 years in Kaiserslautern! Highlights include speeches followed by a question and answer session and autograph signing by an FCK legend. There is an open tour of the factory, a varied program for children and families, catering options, a vehicle exhibition and test drives. In addition, you can test your skills on simulators, view a selection of historic Opel classic cars, enjoy live music and watch the start of the 4th ADAC Trifels Classic Car Rally. The plant tour includes hot and cold forming, laser cutting, model presentation on the STLA-M platform, welding of vehicle components, a GSE simulator, the pressing plant and you can learn about vocational training and the history of the plant. Use the opportunity to experience another piece of Kaiserslautern’s history hands-on.

ALTE WELT SCHLEMMERWANDERUNG, (CULINARY HIKE)

JUNE 21, 10 A.M. – 6 P.M., HEIMKIRCHEN/NIEDERKIRCHEN 

On the magnificent circular hiking trail with fantastic views from the sundial, a total of 9 different stations are set up along a 5.5 km route, where exclusively Palatine “Old World” specialties are prepared for enjoyment. The interesting nature trail “Old World” is located nearby and awaits hikers over 10 km with many educational information boards and special facilities to protect nature and animals. This year, the sundial on the Reiserberg will also be integrated into the hike. The diversity of the landscape is also reflected in the variety of foods offered, which mostly come from the region. A trilingual menu in German, Palatine, and English leaves nothing to be desired. Be it smoked trout, vegetable patties, or homemade cakes from the creative women’s meeting, everything freshly prepared from the ponds and forests.

JUNE 25 – 28, VARIOUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT KAISERSLAUTERN

The initiative “ARTWALK – FreieSzeneKaiserslautern” strengthens the independent art and cultural scene in Kaiserslautern and makes it visibly present in the cityscape. As part of ARTWALK, different cultural initiatives present themselves at various locations throughout the city. The event is coordinated by the City Management but organized in a decentralized manner: individual artists and initiatives act independently. This creates a multi-layered, urban cultural network that celebrates the diversity of the independent scene and makes it accessible to a wide audience. The aim of ARTWALK is to make a significant contribution to the 750th city anniversary in 2026 and, in the long term, to establish itself as an annual highlight.

750 YEARS KAISERSLAUTERN – LAUTRER BRAUNACHT 2026 (BREWERY NIGHT)

JUNE 27, 4 P.M. – MIDNIGHT, STIFTSKIRCHE, KAISERSLAUTERN

The Braunacht tour will take place on Saturday, June 27, in front of Stiftskirche. Three beers specially brewed for this evening can be exclusively tasted there and surrounding gastronomy. Visitors can then vote for their favorite beer again this year.

75 YEARS / 250 YEARS – FRIENDSHIP FEST

JULY 3 – 5, AIRFIELD, BAUMHOLDER

The U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz and the city of Baumholder are jointly hosting a three-day festival to honor 75 years of German-American partnership in Baumholder and to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence. Amidst the picturesque backdrop of Rheinland-Pfalz, this festival offers a unique opportunity to experience American culture up close and make new connections. It is a symbol of the long-standing history and the vibrant partnership in the region. The multi-day festival is planned with live bands, stage programs, rides, family activities, and a variety of gastronomy, as well as a fireworks display on July 4.
