USAFE commander visits deployed location

SOUTHWEST ASIA — “Incredibly fired up” is what the U.S. Air Forces in Europe commander said he felt like after visiting deployed troops at a location April 9.
Gen. Robert H. “Doc” Foglesong toured maintenance shops, new living quarters, a Combined Air Operations Center and had lunch with USAFE troops.
“Every time I come over here, I find the men and women who support this great Air Force of ours are motivated and focused,” he said.
The general said he is always inspired when meeting the men and women, who work day-in and day-out. “It’s great to see senior leaders who care and that they’re not too busy for their troops,” said Senior Airman Jarek Rostkowski, who’s deployed from Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England.
General Foglesong spoke excitedly about USAFE’s role as a force provider to Central Command. “My goal is when the warfighter calls, asks for or has specific requirements for warfighting equipment, warfighting personnel, warfighting expertise — that we’re trained and ready to go.”
General Foglesong also shared a message during his visit: “I hope everybody understands how respected the military is across the world, but specifically in the United States,” he said. “Every time I get a chance to go back home to the U.S., I’m not surprised, but pleased with the respect 280 million people have for what we’re all doing.
“I am proud and honored to wear this uniform on a day-to-day basis. Sometimes we lose track of that because we’re all working our day-to-day jobs, but in reality we have a nation that’s incredibly appreciative of what we’re doing,” he added. (USAFE News Service)
