USO’s “Why My Mom Should Be Honored On Mother’s Day”

KMC children from kindergarten to high school are invited to enter a Mother’s Day essay contest, sponsored by Disney, to say just why their mom is the best. Mother’s Day is May 13.

Nominated mothers must be U.S. government-sponsored, meaning they carry a U.S. Forces ID card. They can be active duty military, civilian employee or a stay-at-home dependent parent, and permanently assigned to the KMC.
Nominated mothers may be currently deployed out of the area, as long as their home station is in the KMC.

• Three categories: children in elementary school/intermediate school (grades K to 5), middle school (grades 6 to 8) and high school. Each category will compete only against other essays in that category.
• Type or legibly write a one-page essay on why your mother is the best mom in the KMC.
• Turn in the essay to any USO Kaiserslautern Center between now and Tuesday.
•  There will be three grand prize winners, one from each category and three honorable mentions, also from each category.
• The winning essays will be read on AFN radio, as well as published in local newspapers and posted in the USO Kaiserslautern Centers. Winners will be announced May 11.
