Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Welsh III and his wife, Betty, greet and take photos with Airmen after an all call July 8, 2014, on Ramstein. Welsh and his wife visited to interact with Airmen and discuss the state of the Air Force, as well as to gain a better understanding of the responsibilities of Team Ramstein. As the senior uniformed Air Force officer, Welsh is responsible for the organization, training and equipping of 690,000 active-duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian forces serving in the United States and overseas. Prior to his current position, he was U.S. Air Forces in Europe commander.
