Summer is coming and once again, it’s time for the American Red Cross Summer Youth Volunteer Program.
Youth and young adults up to age 24 are the fastest growing segment of the Red Cross volunteer staff. Last summer, more than 70 youth volunteered throughout the KMC reported more than 2500 service hours.
Children, 13 to 19, can learn new skills while giving something to the community they live in. In addition, high school age Air Force dependents can earn money for college while volunteering through the Youth Employment Services Program.
Opportunities are available in the clinics, libraries, the passenger terminal and many other locations on Ramstein, Landstuhl, Vogelweh and Sembach.
The program runs from June 14 through Aug. 27. All applications are due by June 4, and placements will be made on a first come first served basis, subject to the placement requirements.
To learn more about the program, call the Red Cross office at 480-2171 or 06371-47-5464. Applications are available at Red Cross offices on Landstuhl, Kleber Kaserne and Ramstein.
