News for the Ramstein, Kaiserslautern, Landstuhl & Baumholder military communities in Germany In Kaiserslautern, about 3,000 soccer fans celebrated the final draw for the 2006 FIFA World Cup with a party and live bands Dec. 9 on Stiftsplatz. The audience was enthusiastic about the results of the draw and applauded the teams that will play in the local stadium.
For the second year the German-American Community Office invited Americans to perform at the Christmas market in Kaiserslautern.

All over German Christmas markets, shoppers will find unique wooden items such as nutcrackers, Christmas pyramids, angels and other figures. The origin of these holiday items goes back to the 17th century in the Erzgebirge, a mountain area near the Czech border.
The Christmas market in Kaiserslautern will present a live nativity scene 5 p.m. Monday on Schillerplatz. A horse farm will show how animals celebrate Christmas. The Goldway Pipers will play music before the Kaiserslautern Zoo will open its petting zoo from 5 to 7 p.m. The school orchestra of the Kurpfalz Realschule will perform 6 to 8 p.m.
Santa performs
High wire acrobat Falko Traber, dressed as Santa Claus, will present a Christmas high wire show at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Thursday and Dec. 15 at the Christmas market in Kaiserslautern. Children can sing him a Christmas song and will receive gifts in return.
