***image1***The Hitscherhof farm holds its 11th annual farm fest from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The event features a farmers’ market, arts and crafts market and corn maze.

Almost 80 vendors present their goods and merchandise. Visitors can buy agricultural and homemade goods such as honey, wurst, dairy products, apples, vegetables, bread, honey, olive oil and tea.

The Hitscherhof farm specializes in pumpkins and sweet corn which also are available for sale. A special attraction is the Atlantic Giant pumpkin.
The arts and crafts vendors sell pottery, wooden puzzles, dolls, tin toys, paintings, postcards, candles, baskets, dried flower bouquets, hats, scarves, antique furniture, household items, ceramic figures, tiffany products, bags, house accessories and jewelry.

The corn maze offers a walk through its narrow and cut-off paths. Children can play on a straw pile and have their faces painted.

Another specialty is “Flammkuchen,” similiar to pizza but thinner and covered with onions, bacon and sour cream. It usually is served with “Federweisser,” which is known as new wine, a half-fermented substance somewhere between grape juice and wine. It contains some alcohol and a lot of sugar.

The Hitscherhof is located between Thaleischweiler and Rieschweiler. Take A62 from Landstuhl south toward the exit of Thaleischweiler-Fröschen. After exiting, go west toward Rieschweiler. Before reaching Rieschweiler, turn right.
