Riding the school bus

***image1***KMC Department of Defense Dependent Schools resume Monday, and motorists are asked to drive with care.
• Slow down and use caution, especially when backing out of a driveway
or while driving in neighborhoods with bus stops or in school zones.
• Buses pulling into traffic from marked bus stops have the right-of-way.
• German law allows drivers to pass a stopped bus at walking speed;
however, passing a moving bus with its warning lights on is prohibited.
• On property under the control of the United States, drivers
approaching or following buses that have stopped for passengers must
always stop. They may proceed only after the bus has begun to move.

Tips for kids
• Be on time – walk to the bus stop
• Wait for the bus three steps back from the curb
• Get off the bus and wait for it to leave
• Take your seat on the bus and stay in it
• Never go in front of or behind the bus
