School Advisory Board addresses issues, concerns

The School Advisory Board for the 2004 to 2005 school year consists of 11 elected parents representing every school in the KMC and three elected teachers representing the KMC elementary, middle and high schools.
This school year, some teachers are allowed to be represented on the board.
Parents can actively participate in support of their respective School Advisory Councils and bring issues and concerns addressed by students, parents, teachers and administrators to the monthly executive board.
“Issues are reviewed, addressed and discussed to determine common trends within the schools represented here in the KMC,” said Elaine Grande, District Superin-tendents Office, assistant superintendent.
“All issues and concerns are encouraged to be resolved at the lowest level possible within the schools themselves. However, in the event a common issue, problem or concern arise that impact a school within the KMC – the issue is researched,” explained Dr. Archie Bates, Kaiserslautern District Superintendent.
Information and possible recommendations are forwarded to the installation commander and or the Department of Defense Dependent Schools superintendent for resolution.
“The time is now for a coordinated system to actively reach out in support of our children, parents, teachers, administrators and the overall school organization,” added Grande. “If a quality education is to be achieved, there must be an active voice of all those involved.”
The Ramstein Elementary School, Ramstein Intermediate School, Ramstein American Middle School, Ramstein American High School, Landstuhl Elementary and Middle School, Vogelweh Elementary School, Kaiserslautern Elementary School, Kaiserslautern Middle School, Kaiserslautern High School, Sembach Elementary School and Sembach Middle School all participate in SAB.
