Civil Air Patrol joins total force ‘Airmen’

WASHINGTON — When conducting missions for the Air Force as the official Air Force auxiliary, the Civil Air Patrol is now included in the Air Force’s definition of the total force. CAP has provided 74 years of support to emergency services, aerospace education and cadet programs.

Landstuhl celebrates city fest
Landstuhl celebrates its 27th city fest today through Sunday. The event features a musical program with more than 20 bands on three stages, regional culinary specialties and a car display behind Stadthalle. Sunday, stores are open from 1 to 6 p.m. The fest opens with officials tapping the first keg of beer at 6:30 p.m. today followed by Wings of Dixie, a U.S. Air Forces in Europe Band, performing until 8:30 p.m. The bands Teamwork, Copyright, 7ty Proof and Funhouse plays P!nk perform until 11:30 p.m. More bands will perform from 3:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday. U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Cole Kasten, 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron pavement and heavy equipment operator, pushes a wheelbarrow before mixing cement for a ramp at Public School No. 4 Aug. 28 in Gori. Kasten, along with a six-man U.S. Air Force team and Georgian army engineers, worked for more than 16 hours straight on some days during the 30-day project in order to complete everything they could to renovate of the school and help the children of Gori.
