Buddha exhibition in Voelklingen
The Voelklinger Huette, former Iron-Works and known as World Heritage Site, hosts a “Buddha” exhibition through Feb. 17. Visitors can admire 232 works of art from 2,000 years. The exhibition also displays Steve McCurry’s photos of Buddhist countries in the 20th and 21st centuries. Tickets cost €15; children under 17 are free. For details, visit

Farmers market in Linden
A German-French farmers market is set up in Linden, south of Queidersbach, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. More than 40 vendors present cheese, meat, wurst, juices, jelly, honey, trout, pastries, oil and wine. The local soccer club serves homemade cakes and coffee, and the men’s cooking club offers potato dumplings with bacon sauce.

Wine harvest fest in Neustadt
Neustadt/German Wine Street celebrates its German Wine Harvest Fest today through Oct. 10. The event features rides, a wine village consisting of little framework houses and musical performances. On Oct. 9, stores are open from 1 to 6 p.m. and a fest parade starts at 2 p.m. A fireworks display closes out the fest Oct. 10. For details, visit www.neustadt.eu.

‘Men in black’ perform in Landstuhl
The culture and convention center Stadthalle Landstuhl presents “Let the Good Times Roll,” a music show, at 7:30 p.m. today. The Three Men in Black and their band perform soul and rock ‘n’ roll hits from four centuries with funny choreography. Tickets cost €23, €28 and €32. Pumpkin weighing championship
Just like in 2015, the Gartenschau Kaiserslautern offers its annual Rhineland-Palatinate Pumpkin Weighing Championship at 1 p.m. Sunday near the entrance. Pumpkin breeders show off and weigh their pumpkins. Prizes are awarded to the heaviest and nicest-looking pumpkins. The pumpkin display, under the motto “Royal,” continues through the end of the season, Oct. 31. The Gartenschau, also known as dino park, is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Pumpkin display at Gartenschau
This year’s pumpkin display at the Kaiserslautern Gartenschau runs now through 
Oct. 31 under the motto “Royal.” Statues made of numerous and different kinds of pumpkins show the king of the thieves, Robin Hood, King Elvis, Frog King, a queen bee and more. The Gartenschau, also known as dino park, is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. For more information, visit www.gartenschau-kl.de.

Highlander festival in Landstuhl
Nanstein Castle in Landstuhl is the stage for the 5th Sickingen Highland-Festival today and Saturday. The Scottish band AMOX performs today to be followed by a 2U-U2 Tribute show. Rock with Celtica Pipes (pictured) and a fire show close out the day. The Odenwald Pipes and Drums, Goitse and Mànran present folk from Ireland and Scotland Saturday night. Museum fest, radio swap meet
The broadcasting museum Rundfunkmuseum in Muenchweiler/Alsenz sponsors its 12th annual museum fest with a radio swap meet from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Visitors can sell their old radios, walkie talkies and television sets. Each vendor can have a free display table; a second table costs €5. A special exhibition of pocket radios and tape recorders takes place in the museum. Free guided tours are being offered. Food and beverages are available. Verdi’s opera ‘Nabucco’ in Ramstein
The Haus des Buergers in Ramstein-Miesenbach celebrates its 30th anniversary with an open-air performance of Guiseppe Verdi’s opera ”Nabucco” at 8 p.m. Sept. 2 on Prometheusplatz. The Prague Opera House performs the opera with more than 100 orchestra members and singers. Tickets cost €35, €48 and €60.
